Project Description:
2012 Road Maintenance Program
North Huntingdon Townships’ $450,000 2012 Road Maintenance Program consisted of 18 roads totaling more than 3.5 miles in length. The Township used Pennsylvania Liquid Fuels funds to fund the project. KLH coordinated with PennDOT Municipal Services Specialist to secure all necessary approvals for funding.
The Township Public Works Department provided a list of prospective roads that needed to be rated and prioritized to efficiently use as much of the budget as possible. KLH Personnel surveyed all the prospective roads and developed preliminary designs and estimates for repair. Proposed repairs included cold milling, profiling, hot-mix asphalt overlay, chip seal, storm water inlet installation and micro-surfacing.
Once the final list was determined, KLH proceeded with a GPS field survey to use as a basis for the drawings. Contract documents and technical specifications were prepared and the project was put out for bid. KLH administered the bidding process and assisted North Huntingdon Township in identifying the lowest, responsible bidder.
Once construction began, KLH provided daily resident observation, using experienced and trained personnel, to immediately resolve all issues in the field and ensure compliance with contract specifications as well as PennDOT specifications.
